Okay, so I finally got my driver's license--Daddy got his after we had been here about two weeks. But I had to wait until Daddy was done with inprocessing and could stay with the girls while I took my test. I mostly have the hang of how to get to post from our place and back again.
We were able to pick up our van on Thursday!! A great praise as we realized just how cramped Daddy's car is on our trip to Garmisch last weekend (about a 3 hr drive).
Traveling on the autobahn is exhilarating and terrifying all at once. Drivers are crazy here--the really crazy ones seem to drive Audis as that is the vehicle that consistenly blows our doors off while we are on the autobahn. It is exhilarating in terms of speed--the slowest one generally goes on the autobahn is abut 80 kph (about 48 mph), posted speeds are usually 100 kph or 120 kph (60 or 72 mph) and when there is no posted speed limit, the advised speed is 130 kph (78 mph) however those Audis blowing our doors off were definately MUCH faster. It's the section on the autobahn that Uncle D refers to as "game on".
By law, you are to cruise in the right lane and pass in the left lane. So if there are cars passing you and you get stuck behind a truck--you gotta slow way, way down, since most trucks are not supposed to go over 90 kph and some, not even that fast. So good brakes are a MUST!! And good tires for that matter too!!
