Happy Birthday Racing Princess
Her birthday was actually yesterday--March 26. I vividly remember going in for another pregnancy appointment and we were already 5 days past my due date. Dr. Gordon wanted to know what we were doing on Thursday, then he reconsidered and wanted to know if we wanted to have a baby tomorrow--Wednesday, March 26th. We were so excited and so ready!! It was great for Daddy, cuz he was so concerned with his job as a recruiter where he would drive 2+ hours out that he would be in a no cell phone reception zone when my water broke or something--at least now, he could go back into work and let them know he would be on leave beginning the next day! We then called my mom, who ironically had Wednesdays off work at the time, and casually asked her what she was planning on doing the next day. When she asked why, we casually told her we were gonna have a baby and wanted to know if she wanted to join us. Then Daddy's mom called us to find out what we were doing the next day as she was going up to Sioux Falls to visit an old friend and wanted to stop by and see us on her way home. Again we casually told her we were gonna be a little busy having a baby. Our hospital room was very full--with staff members (doctors, nurses), 3 out of 4 grandparents, Daddy and I. And it truly was an all day affair. Daddy, Grandma H. and I arrived about 6:30am. They started the meds to encourage contractions about 7:30am. Doctor broke my water around lunchtime. The Racing Princess made her appearance at 5:24pm on that Wednesday. Daddy had to call folks from church to let them know that I would not be at Awana that night since we had just had a baby girl! What a beautiful young lady our little Racing Princess is becoming! Happy Birthday!!
