Oh this move has been one heck of a roller coaster already and we haven't even moved yet!!
1...where specifically are we going in Germany? who knows...first we were told Katterbach, then Mannheim, then Grafenwoehr, and latest and greatest is Stuttgart. Guess we will find out for real when we check in at the USO in Germany :)
2....decluttering--very hard thing for me, especially my books and "educational tools" :) We have participated in three yard sales since receiving notification of orders and still have much more that we could/should part with, but now it will have to wait to be done during the unpacking process.
3...the house...we bought our house when we moved here in 2008...we need to either sell it or rent it out...the economy and the housing market are both crap (that is all I can say on the matter or I will begin a hateful monolog regarding politics which I also despise)
4....packing in stages...first we packed up some (lots of) stuff and put it in a local storage unit to declutter the house in order to put it on the market....last week we sent some stuff to army storage (washer/dryer/freezer among other things) as well as our send ahead shipment (things we might need shortly after arriving..more warm clothes, linens, inflatable beds, some kitchen stuff, games, education materials, etc.) In a couple weeks (holy cow!!) they will come and pack up the rest of our belongings to ship them over to Europe for our 3 year tour
5...stupid rules and regs....which no one seems to follow unless it is highly inconvenient for us...Daddy has had to jump through loads of extra hoops for this silly reason or that silly reason and I am surprised he still has hair on his head for all the hair pulling he has done lately.
6...as always, saying bye to friends is hard and this one seems rather prolonged as we have slowly withdrawn ourselves from the various activities and such that our family is involved in. We realized today that we only have two more Sundays left at the church we attend and we will miss our church and friends dearly. Of course we have all gained some new pen pals with promises to write :)
7...last but definately most important....we are still learning to embrace the thrilling, eventful, scary ride of faith. God is King and He can do anything. All that He does is for our good....even when it is heart-wrenching and painful...He is growing us to do His great work. It is so humbling and terrifying to be part of His great plan (especially for a type-A personality like myself).
The ride has just begun, as badly as I sometimes want to beg to be let off, we still ride...
