Settling in....

finally, I think I am down to less than a dozen boxes to unpack. They have all been opened and contents briefly inspected, the unpacking is a bit more difficult, since I am supposed to actually put the contents away and sometimes I have no clue where "away" is! We are finally getting into a bit of a routine. Daddy is back to crack o' dawn PT, short pit stop back home to shower, change and pick up his freshly packed lunch, then back to work for the day. Generally, he has been getting off work about 6ish so is home around 6:30--on a good day, dinner is waiting; on a not-so-good day, dinner hasn't even been thought about :) With the time change (which took place March 27th for us in Europe), the sun is still up past the girl's normal bedtime (between 8 and 8:30). With our "flyscreens" where the outside light can be totally blocked out, not too big of a deal, unless the girls were recently outside. The girls and I are beginning to get into a daily routine with school and finding homes for the last few boxes. Tuesdays, we have PWOC (Protestant Women of the Chapel), so generally afterwards, we try to stop and see if there is anything new at the thrift store and then home. Wednesdays, we have Awana in the evening. Thursdays, we have homeschool PE in the afternoon that is run by CYS (child and youth services) and is awesome (last week the kids did archery). After PE, we usually go to the commissary (unless we ended up going on Tues.) School is often done by early afternoon (depending on how many shiny things distract one from the task at hand) and our doorbuzzer first rings about 2ish for the girls to go out and play. That is a new joy and challenge all in itself--living in a neighborhood with kids roughly the ages of our girls. Course there are tears and tattling, but there is also a lot of sharing (Racing Princess lets one neighbor borrow her roller skates while she rides neighbor's bike--Daddy still needs to prep our bikes for use), and borrowing and playing together. This month is the Month of the Military Child. And there are some neat events on post all month. Movie Monday (this week we saw Gulliver's travels)--kids are free and also get a free small popcorn and small drink. Thursdays--crazy bowling if the kids participate in the theme (tomorrow is crazy socks), their games are only 50 cents each and a 50 shoe rental. Each Friday is a special event (this week is roller skating in one of the hangers). I am sure there are other treats, but these are the ones that come to mind as they are the things we put on the calendar to try to attend.
