One of the permanent exhibits is a replica of the Buffett grocery store at 5015 Underwood Avenue in Omaha, Nebraska. The Buffett family business was founded in 1869 by Sidney Buffett in a small storefront on 14th Street. In 1915 Sidney’s son Ernest Buffett opened a store in the then west Omaha suburb of Dundee. Later, ownership of the store passed to Ernest’s son Fred, the father of Bill Buffett. The store remained open until 1969, offering service so personal that customers were often greeted by name.
Warren Buffett, Bill’s cousin, said he got his business start from the store.
