Pedestrian Bridge

One evening, we walked across the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge that crosses the Missouri River between Omaha, Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa.

This bridge is 3000 feet long. It is a pedestrian and bicycle bridge--no motorized vehicles allowed. It is the first ever pedestrian bridge to connect two states!!!

The bridge is north of the I-480 girder bridge and connects the Port of Omaha's Miller Landing in Omaha to One Renaissance Center in the former Dodge Park Playland in Council Bluffs.

Of course the girls were irritated that they couldn't play in the splash park--but we didn't know it was there until we arrived, so we were not prepared.

It was a great walk and sparked some interesting discussion--especially since the Racing Princess was born in Iowa :)
