Okay--I have not exactly been neglecting my blog--a lot has happened recently. I will give the short version here and then hopefully by the end of this coming week I will be able to post the long version with pictures.
The Mariner's museum had a free Sunday afternoon--we went and met up with some friends from church. It was great since we were studying the Civil War this summer and the Mariner's is home to the turret of the Monitor.
The day after that, we met up with a college friend of mine and her family at Jamestown and had a blast.
The Baby Princess started on "real" foods. She is much more open to baby foods than the other girls were, however, she will not turn down table food when given an opportunity. She really likes breadsticks from Olive Garden :)
Then on Sunday, July 19th as we were on our way to Rita's Italian Ice after church, we got a call that Daddy's mom had passed away. Auntie S. (Daddy's sister) was up visiting and with us when the news came. So on Monday, we caravaned to Omaha. We arrived on Tuesday evening just after Uncle D and his family flew in from Germany. The viewing was Friday, July 24th, the funeral on Saturday, July 25th, and the burial on Monday, July 27th.
Since then, we have been helping Daddy's dad sort, organize, de-clutter and begin life as a widower. His wife was the backbone of the household and the home business and this has been realized so much in the last many days of going through things in the house.
Even though the circumstances were heart-wrenching, it was great to see all the members of that side of the family. Even a few I hadn't met yet. All the first cousins had a great time catching up and all their kids had a great time playing together.
During this visit to Omaha, we were also able to connect up with friends of Daddy's from high school and their families. What fun!
Also our girls and our nephews got to spend a lot of time together. The next time our kids see their cousins, we won't be able to holler boys and girls and separate the families as Auntie H. is expecting a baby girl in October!!!
Oh yeah--and my folks bought a new house in the same town that my brother lives in and has been slowly moving stuff over as my family has also temporarily "moved in".
This weekend we have a family wedding in Kansas City and the Disney Princess will fly back to Florida to get ready for the new school year and Daddy will fly back to Virginia to go back to work and get some stuff done on the house while the girls and I will stay for a bit more in Omaha with the grandparents (not sure if we will just be in the way and taking up space or if we will actually be helpful with the move).
